creating the first map

Today I created the map for the first playable build and constructed a couple rooms for introducing the basic control mechanics of the game. I’m trying to create a few teaching rooms, without holding the players hand too much. I’d like to create more like easily comprehensible situations and gently push the player in the right direction to create some “Aha!” moments.

I had to reorder the tiles in the tileset PNG, because the Godot tilemap editor likes when tiles for an auto tile or atlas tile are organized into a rectangle. It’s a bit boring put pixels from here to there for a half an hour, but after that, creating an usable tileset for the map was like ten minutes. Worth it!

Also today I made prototype object for revealing secret areas in the map… Tomorrow I’ll make an inheritable scene from it and will reuse it countless times. Ha-ha-ha!
